Day 1
Kuala Lumpur to Beijing
Meals: In-flight meal, lunch, dinner
The journey starts at KLIA 1, four hours before departure. On arrival in Beijing you visit Tiananmen Square, the largest public square in the world, then the Forbidden City, home to 24 emperors. Prayers follow at Niujie Mosque, then a visit to the Muslim supermarket, and time to shop on Wangfujing Street before dinner and checking in to the hotel in Beijing.
Day 2
Bullet train to Harbin
Meals: Breakfast, packed lunch, dinner
After breakfast and check-out you board the high-speed train for the six-hour run to Harbin, the "Ice City", with a packed lunch on board. On arrival you stop at a winter clothing shop to layer up, because the temperature can reach -30°C, then continue to the hotel for the night in Harbin.
Day 3
Harbin
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
After breakfast you visit Volga Manor, an unusual park of more than 30 Russian-style buildings with cultural performances to match. After lunch there are prayers at Daowai Mosque, then the Ice & Snow World, with more than 2,000 ice sculptures, vast palaces, rides and shows. The night is spent back in Harbin.
Day 4
Harbin
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
After breakfast you head to Mingdu Ski Resort, twenty minutes from Harbin, for skiing on four runs including a children's track. After lunch you walk Central Street, the landmark avenue of Baroque, Renaissance and modern architecture. In the evening comes the Zhaolin Park ice lantern show, a spectacle of illuminated ice sculptures. Back to the hotel in Harbin.
Day 5
Harbin to Beijing
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, packed dinner
After breakfast the day starts in Harbin Music Park with its 18-metre snowman. You then watch the remarkable winter swimming display on the Songhua River and visit Saint Sophia Cathedral, now the Harbin Architecture Gallery, before taking in the view from the historic Songhua River railway bridge. The six-hour high-speed train then carries you back to Beijing with a packed dinner on board; your guide meets you and you check in for the night.
Day 6
Beijing
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
The morning begins at the Burning Cream Center, known for the Chinese herbal creams used to treat a range of skin complaints. You then climb into history at the Great Wall of China at Juyongguan, part of a defensive structure 3,750 miles long. After a halal lunch there is shopping at Jewelry City, then Beijing Olympic Park for the Bird's Nest, the Water Cube and the Olympic Tower, ending at Hongqiao Market, a bargain hunter's paradise of everything from electronics to handicrafts.
Day 7
Beijing to Kuala Lumpur
Meals: Breakfast, in-flight meal
After a last breakfast at the hotel you transfer to the airport for the flight home, and step back onto Malaysian soil with a head full of good memories.
