# Image credits

Third-party imagery shipped with this site. Everything here is a placeholder for
real Kotamas photography — when a proper shoot happens, these files get replaced
and the corresponding rows below deleted.

Photographs are **not** hotlinked. Each was downloaded once from Wikimedia
Commons at a fixed thumbnail width and committed, so the site has no runtime
dependency on Commons.

## Photographs

CC BY and CC BY-SA require attribution wherever the image is displayed. That is
satisfied by the "Photo credits" link in the site footer, which points here.

## Tour package photographs

One destination photograph per package, in `tours/<slug>.jpg`, shown on the tour
cards and at the top of each tour page until staff upload that package's own
poster. Named by slug so the model can find them without a database column —
see `TourPackage::getPosterUrlAttribute()`.

**All but one are CC0** and owe no attribution at all; most come from the
Unsplash photographs donated to Commons under CC0. They are listed anyway so
the set can be audited and replaced.

**Borobudur is the one exception.** Commons carries no CC0 or public-domain
photograph of the temple itself — only architectural drawings and 1920s
archive plates — so this one is CC BY 4.0 and its author must be named
wherever it appears. The footer's "Photo credits" link satisfies that. If a
CC0 Borobudur photograph ever appears, swapping it in removes the only
attribution this set owes.

Files were resized by Commons' own thumbnailer on download and are otherwise
unmodified. The two CC BY-SA files remain under CC BY-SA 4.0.

**Deliberately not used:** a Cinque Terre photograph by Timothy A. Gonsalves,
whose Commons file page asks to be contacted before commercial use. The CC
licence would have permitted it; the request is worth honouring, so a different
image was chosen.

## Airline logos

All three are in the **public domain** — plain wordmarks fall below the
threshold of originality for copyright — so no attribution is owed.

**Malaysia Airlines has no file** — Commons carries only a 1963 historical mark,
which would be wrong to show. It renders via the component's typeset fallback
instead. If a current freely-licensed mark appears, drop it in as
`airlines/malaysia-airlines.svg` and add the name to the `$logos` map in
`resources/views/components/airline-strip.blade.php`.

Copyright is not the constraint here — **trademark** is. These marks are used
nominatively, to identify the carriers our tour packages actually fly on. That
use is legitimate, and stays legitimate only if:

- the marks ship unmodified — no recolouring, no cropping, no restyling;
- the surrounding wording never implies partnership, sponsorship or
  endorsement. The band is labelled **"Flying with"** for exactly this reason;
- a carrier we stop using gets removed.

## Property photographs

`database/seeders/images/properties/*.jpg` are Kotamas' own photographs of the
Port Dickson bungalow and the Bus Resort, taken from the KOTA MAS corporate
site. They are not third-party assets and are not listed above.
